Facial pain can be both debilitating and uncomfortable. Many times facial pain can be related to a TMJ problem. Your face, head and neck all have nerves, joints and muscles that communicate with each other. For instance, if a muscle in your head is strained or provoked, aching can travel up that muscle and cause pain in your face. TMJ affects all muscles, most notably your neck, face, head, shoulders and back.
