A specialized practice for conditions other doctors miss.

South Bay TMJ, Sleep, Headache & Orofacial Pain Institute is a specialized medical practice in Torrance, CA, focused on diagnosing and treating pain conditions of the jaw, face, head, and neck. Our board-certified orofacial pain specialists, Dr. Paul Grin and Dr. Eric Grin, are both Diplomates of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and clinical faculty at UCLA. With over 32 years of clinical experience, our practice offers advanced, conservative care for TMJ disorders, headaches, facial pain, nerve pain, and sleep-disordered breathing.

Orofacial pain is a specialized field with fewer than 500 board-certified practitioners worldwide. Most patients with chronic jaw pain or facial pain see multiple doctors before finding a specialist with the right training. Our practice exists to shorten that journey.

<400

Board-certified orofacial pain specialists are rare worldwide, and both of ours are among them. The American Academy of Orofacial Pain reports that the average TMJ patient sees 5.3 doctors over 4.2 years before finding the right specialist.

― What makes us different

Four credentials. Four reasons our patients trust us.

01 · The credential

A field with fewer than 500 specialists worldwide.

Orofacial pain is one of the rarest medical specialties. Most patients see multiple doctors before finding one with the right training. Our doctors completed advanced postgraduate training specifically focused on the conditions affecting the jaw, face, head, and neck.

02 · Board certified

Diplomates of the American Board of Orofacial Pain

Both Dr. Paul Grin and Dr. Eric Grin hold the highest credential in the field, earned through rigorous examination and demonstrated clinical competence.

― Our approach

How we work, and why it matters.

Six commitments that define how we care for every patient who walks through our doors.

From the practice

Every initial evaluation lasts 45 to 60 minutes. We never rush.

01

One patient at a time

We never double-book. When you come to our office, the time you schedule is yours alone. Your doctor gives you full, undivided attention. This is especially important for complex pain conditions that require thorough evaluation.

02

Thorough evaluations

Your first visit lasts 45 to 60 minutes. We take the time to review your complete medical history, listen to your symptoms in detail, and perform a comprehensive exam before recommending any treatment.

03

Conservative, non-surgical care

Our treatment methods are non-invasive, non-surgical, and reversible. We start with the least invasive options and use advanced therapies only when needed. Surgery is considered only as a last resort after all conservative options have been explored.

04

Team-based care for complex cases

Our office is equipped with low-radiation CT scans, neurosensory testing equipment, electromyography (EMG), joint vibration analysis, and ultrasound guidance for precision injections.

05

Regenerative medicine

Our practice offers advanced regenerative therapies including PRP, prolotherapy, and stem cell exosome therapy. These treatments use the body’s own healing processes to repair damaged tissue.

06

Coordinated team approach

We work with neurologists, physical therapists, and other specialists to address every aspect of your condition.

― Patient Stories ―

Real patients. Real relief.

“I needed to visit Dr. Grin for jaw pain, and was referred from my Dentist. Dr Grin has a calm and well run office. I was intaked easily without waiting. His initial exam (H&P) was very detailed and covered my entire history, complaint, prior treatments, concerns, etc. Amazingly thorough. Also had a cat scan on premises!

He developed a straight-forward plan of care which was easy for me to follow. My pain resolved and I was discharged after just one return visit, but welcomed to return if I ever needed his attention again.

Top tier, great bedside manner, well run office and staff. Most impressive and effective for a specialty provider.❤️4″

TMJ & Chronic Headaches

“I couldn’t tolerate my CPAP machine despite trying for months. Dr. Grin fitted me with a custom oral appliance and a follow-up sleep study confirmed it works. I sleep through the night and feel like myself again.”

Robert T.

Sleep Apnea / CPAP Alternative

“As someone with EDS, finding a TMJ specialist who actually understood my condition was life-changing. Dr. Grin used a conservative approach that protected my jaw and the prolotherapy has made a real difference.”
